Day 204 - Madurai

We witnessed our first Indian festival today in the city of Madurai. Yesterday at the huge temple dedicated to Meenashki, Hindus celebrated the marriage of Shiva and Meenashki. The story is that Meenashki was born with three breasts, but that one would disappear when she got married. This morning thousands of people crowded the streets to watch the carriages parading through the city. It was very hot.
