Blade Runner

'Blade Runner" - dystopian sci-fi pic. My pic - a gate and some fields. Let me explain.

A few days ago, my dear friend Kerry suggested to me and couple of friends that we all go and see the Director's Cut of 'Blade Runner' at Home in Manchester (Home being the new name for the Cornerhouse, which has moved premises). Actually, I don't think it was the Director's Cut, I think it might have been the Final Cut, but, frankly, I doubt we're there yet.

So we met up at Home - me, Kerry, Rob and Jim - had a couple of drinks and an American 'Sharing Board', and then when down to the cinema. The film was - as I have always found it - brilliant. I must say, I always liked the voiceover version and this was the first one that has worked for me without it. I spotted a few changes, I think, but was also bit put out by the scene where Deckard won't let Rachael leave his apartment. As Kerry put it afterwards, it was a bit "rape-ier" than I remembered it.

Due to the electrification of the railway line between Manchester and somewhere north of Chorley, I had to get a bus back at the end of the evening, and I took a few photos through the window but they all came out dreadfully, so I used this one, which I took this morning just after dropping the kids off. (Actually, that reminds me that the Final Cut has removed all traces of blue sky and countryside from this version, apart from the bit where the unicorn runs through the forest.)
