Eemshaven sunset
This evening I went to the Eemshaven. There were nice clouds over the always beautiful Wadden Sea, so I had the photo I wanted to make in my mind already. But arriving on the dike I saw the tide was too high and on top of that the sun was blocked by a thick cloud that went all the way to the horizon. So, my plans vanished, all and all it looked like it would turn out to be a very dissapointing evening.
So I drove back the way I came, a long empty road with noting but very large windmills. Then I received a textmessage, so I stopped my car and read it.
After reading it I thought why not give it a try right here. So I did, I went out of my car and started shooting the scene.
Then suddenly the sun appeared under the clouds, and being still above the dike it gave everything a beautiful golden glow. Instant adrenaline rush! I became very busy at once, because the sun would soon dissapear again, this time behind the dike. And after a few minutes it did, but I had enough photo's and several wow-moments.
On my way home I listened to Mark Knopfler and everything fitted when he sang:
This has been a day to die for
Now the day has almost gone
Up above a choir of seabirds
Turn to face the setting sun
Now the evening dawn is calling
And the hills are burning red
And before the night comes falling
Clouds are lined with golden thread
