Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

Monday, April 27, 2015 -- Dinner Time

We've had a full and productive day and somehow the time has gotten away from me, so the three pups are getting their dinner late. Chloe's complete satisfaction is revealed in this photo. Because I did not capture many other moments with my camera today, this is the number one choice.

One of the tasks we did do today was to stop at the local Kaiser Medical Centers where Mr. Fun's 92-year-old mom has her health insurance. Mr. Fun's dad was an electrician so their coverage is through the Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union and Medicare and Kaiser.  Recently the union members have had to make some serious decisions about medical insurance for current members and for retirees. "Obamacare" is causing the fees to skyrocket. So the union members basically voted to throw the retirees and their spouses or widows under the bus. So as of May 1 Grammie Fun's insurance will be going from a monthly fee of $79.00 to $429.00. She cannot afford that, so Mr. Fun stopped at Kaiser to speak with the Member Services folks this morning to research the possibly of getting a plan that is more affordable for his mom. What a mess.

We also stopped at our credit union to learn about getting our home refinanced. We put our name on the clipboard and sat to wait our turn. After 10 minutes, I looked at Mr. Fun and explained that I was through waiting. I'll learn about refinancing through the phone or the Internet. We're getting ready to have some serious improvements made on our place at the Central Coast. So refinancing is in our future which means paperwork and waiting. Ugh!

Late this evening I did some paper grading and prepping for tomorrow's classes. Now it's time to go to bed.

I think the local temperatures are getting ready to climb. I'm not ready for summer heat. It wasn't a "rainy day" but it was a Monday.

Good Night from southern California,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol

P.S. Yes, this is being posted late, but better than never.
