Whinning Ways

The weather today for my duty day at Longshaw has been unseasonal, inclement, b***** awful! This photo was taken at about 8am - it was cool and dull, but it turned out to be the best bit of the day. It turned very cold during the morning as a bitterly cold wind got up, then early afternoon it started to rain. Just as well I decided against wearing my strappy top!
This lovely Whinchat was clearly waiting for the arrival of his lady love. He was in pretty much the same spot where I saw a pair last year. The other bit of birding fun was when I arrived at the Visitor Centre, a pair of Mandarin Ducks were waiting for the café to open.
