Just for show

Today was the Scottish Rhododendron Society's annual show. I haven't entered for some years because of Phytophthora ramorum, but now I'm allowed to if all the trusses are burnt afterwards and not given away to hospitals and the like as we used to.

I had to leave at 6am to be at Garelochhead by eight, but was held up on the Arrochar-Garelochhead road by a marching contest with hundreds of cadets of all nationalities - see the extra picture of some of them, taken through the windscreen so not as sharp as I would have liked!

I stayed long enough to see the results - I got a first, two seconds, three thirds and a Highly Commended, not bad for a rather rushed job.
