Men At Work . . .
. . . Egyptian style. They dug up the street outside during the night to put in a new water pipe and then men were at work this morning man-handling all the earth and broken slabs into the back of a truck. The guy bent over to the left is scraping debris into a medium sized rubber-plastic bucket. When it is full, it takes two men to hoist it into the air to land on the shoulder of the one who will carry it to the flat deck truck and toss it over with an almighty shrug. The two guys under the green leaves are in the process of hoisting one of the buckets . . . it's a practiced art, I can tell you.
They worked very hard without a break. Their shoes are normal street shoes and not work boots and the earth gets in their hair and eyes constantly. Luckily it wasn't too hot when this was taken about 8.15 am.
Dd is in the school and I was at my desk until now . . . about 3.30pm . . . so much for the weekend!
