Raced to shelter
Today we came north to the beach house for the first time since early March. I deferred a run until the afternoon, when I could go along the foreshore. Soon after I got to the bottom of the steps, and out onto the rapidly narrowing edge of sand, this kotare (kingfisher) headed away from some rocks to the safety of a pohutukawa.
However, I managed this shot of it.
Beats my later photos of poaka (pied stilts) and toreapango (variable oystercatchers).
Also dug the potatoes. Planted late, poorly tended, and dug late, they still satisfactorily produced.
