Cairo Sunset With Fan

First day of the weekend here and so a relaxing morning in the flat with the call to the Friday prayers in the background.

We both also did a wee bit work. Bb did some admin work on his book and I did some prep for our sooner-than-normal assessor's day on Wednesday (week 3). It's usually Sunday week 4, but the assessor who we had booked to come from Iraq hadn't got the approval to fly from Iraq in sufficient time! Bit of a panic and we had to find someone at short notice who could only fly in and 'do' us in Wednesday. Grateful to have someone though!

In the afternoon we walked out and Bb took me around a new part of Dokki (our area here) and, although just 10 mins from the flat, very different. Interesting and humbling to see all the little workshops just 2 metres by 2 metres and cheek by jowel living.

We've spent the late afternoon on the roof terrace of The King's Hotel, also in Dokki and met and chatted briefly with a British couple, older than us, who'd just arrived here last night having travelled by truck from Cape Town! Took them 5 months and put us in mind for a wee adventure! Such a shame we still have to earn a living! We're now getting bitten by mozzies so time to leave and are off for an Indian at Kandahar.

Here's the sunset from The King's Hotel.

It would have been my dad's 80th birthday today had he not passed away in 2009 from MND. I think he'd have enjoyed hearing about our time in Cairo and following our blips. I miss him and wish he were still in our lives.
