Show Me A Garden, That's Bursting Into Life
I've said it before and I'll say it again, my children are my glory, and are indeed as they progress through life a garden, bursting into life.
Boy was sitting next to me on the couch this morning, sleepy eyed from a late night at work, and I was looking at him and remembering the sleepy-eye'd little boy who used to stagger downstairs of a morning, and sit looking at the TV until life kicked in.
He finally got up, showered and then much to my surprise ironed both his shirt and apron, and then sat and sung a couple of songs for me on his guitar. He's a man, almost 21 but in his eyes and in his voice he's still my Boy, wee, cute and funny, and always my baby.
Tooli has been buzzing about too - she has a big birthday party tonight, one of her close circle of friends turns 18 and yesterday she bought a new outfit, and I actually gasped when she came downstairs to display it. She looked so grown up and elegant.... gone was the barely there skirt, and flimsy shirt. Just gorgeous!
Today, she and I clambered aboard the car, and drove to the local shopping centre, where we purchased a range of funny presents for her pal, and a new pair of wedges for herself. We were both sleepy and it was the fastest shop we because have ever managed - Tooli was driving and we multi-storied in a very compact space and I was screaming turn, turn, turn, and she turned and screamed "shut up mum", and we were both laughing so much.
Then home and we dressed the shopping trolly, wrapped the presents, and piled them in. Then back out again, drop Boy at work, some shopping for a quick supper and booze, and then drop off at the party house.
And now, I'm going to do some housework, colour my hair and then sit and do nothing for a bit.
Just embrace the fact, that I'm content, and my children continue to flourish.
