Too much to do, too little time!

Today was an interesting challenge. I wanted to see the Chora church, but it is a little out of the way. Onto the tram, only to realise we had gone too far, so back the other way on another tram amidst much laughter. Then a long walk, and much dodging of traffic. Well - it was certainly worth it (part of the ancient frescoes depicting the life of Christ shown here) - a shame some parts were closed for renovation, but that just gives us an excuse to come back! Then back via the metro and another tram to the Grand Bazaar - very much worth a look for the sheer size, and the architecture alone. Then a walk back to Sultanahmet and the Topkapi Palace. The place was packed, and unfortunately full of unruly school children, but it is extraordinarily beautiful, and the variety if the architecture (small sample in the extra photos), and the lovely gardens made for a wonderful afternoon (the carpet of red tulips reminded me of the poppies at the Tower of London). Last drinks on the rooftop terrace at the hotel watching the sun go down, then a super last meal, and packing for home. It has been a truly great place to visit, and boy have we covered some miles!
