May Day Preparation

Every town and village erects a maypole on the day before May Day. Last year I blipped 2 different villages but this year I only blipped one - Gmünd - as it was a miserable afternoon, only stopping raining once the maypole was in place. There should have been tables and benches set out with the town band playing but only a handful of people watched, drinking beer under sun umbrellas. Hubby very kindly held his umbrella over me while I took some pictures.

The erection today was done by hand by the fire brigade and other willing participants. The extra photos show the progress.
