Moreton Bag Fig: (Ficus macrophylla )

This is a very large tree normally only grown in parklands given it size and root system.

As kids we would love to climb them as they offer a challenge and a half.


The derivation of the name is that Ficus is the latin name for the common edible fig and macrophylla is from Greek macros, large or long and phyllon, a leaf, referring to the size of the mature leaves.
