These Hills on Fire

A few days ago we say a fire on one of the hills behind Menaggio. It did not look too serious and I think it was just allowed to burn itself out. In today's photograph the low cloud almost looks like the smoke coming off a hillside fire.

Today we took a ferry over to Tremezzo for lunch. The intention had been to walk along the Greenway, but we decided it was too wet, so took the ferry instead. We had found an article in the Guardian which suggested a pizzeria we had not previously tried.

The pizzeria turned out to be up in the hills, more in Mezzagra than Tremezzo. So we must have been about a third of the way back to Lenno. The pizza was, as the Guardian had promised, very good. After lunch a walk, fairly brisk walk in fact, in order to catch the ferry back to Lenno.

We will have to return to the pizzeria another time, but will wait for some better weather.
