Wat Phra Mahathat
Wat Mahathat is the holiest and most beautiful Buddhist temple in the southern region of Thailand. It is in the old city of Nakhon Si Thammarat, which was once the capital of a prosperous kingdom.
This 78m high chedi (thai word for a stupa) hold the left tooth of Lord Buddha. This is the reason why this Wat (temple) is such a revered sanctuary. It has often been compared to Wat Pho in Bangkok for its magnificence.The top of the spire is made of solid gold.
