Day 671 [4-21-15] "Lake Oroville"

This reservoir has a staggering capacity of 3.5 million acre feet of water - enough to cover 38,000 miles of 4-lane freeway under 10ft of water (43,560ft³ per acre foot spead on a 76ft wide highway).  Lake Oroville is the heart of the California State Water Project.  About 70% of the water it provides goes to urban areas of Southern California (San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, Ventura, & Orange Counties) and the Bay Area (Napa, Solano, Alameda, & Santa Clara counties), while 30% goes to Central Valley agriculture.  It is currently at 51% capacity and dropping daily.
