Hard boiled

The afternoon turned out very hot but I did not have the sense to take the weight off my feet. What with walking the dog and mowing the grass I was exhausted. But on the coast I saw a lizard and several blue butterflies, and heard a cuckoo very close.

This hen is a Cuckoo Marans, a French breed whose eggs were first brought into this country in 1929 during an import ban, disguised as part of a picnic in a luncheon basket.
