This sculpture by Roy Lichtenstein stands in the courtyard of the new extension to the Centro de Arte Reine Sofia, Madrid's gallery of modern art.

A random sample of what we saw includes shocking documentary of atrocities at Buchenwald. beautiful photographic portraits of rural Spain in the 1950s, and stunning works by Miro, Dali and Klee. They are all overshadowed by Picasso's Guernica, a masterpiece in form, content and context.
