Bambi & The Bluebell's
It's the wife's last day off and she likes to try and take a friends dogs out that we've both become attached too. After picking them up, we headed for a local walk starting at Castle Coch, nr Cardiff to do a hilly circular five mile walk. It takes in the ridge running from Nantgarw to Caerphilly and the views overlooking Caerphilly, Cardiff and The Bristol Channel are stunning. (The picture I blipped a couple of days ago from Rudry Ridge gives a flavour)
The bluebell's were out in force for a large part of this walk, but best in the large woods surrounding the castle. Near the end I stopped to photograph some and, thinking I was playing, Bambi (10 years) came to watch. I quickly snapped her. It's not a perfect picture, more a snatched snapshot, but it's the photo I like most from the day.
Here's a bit of interesting information...........
Hyacinthoides non-scripta (Bluebell) is a bulbous perennial plant found in Atlantic areas from north-western Spain to the UK. It is particularly associated with ancient woodland where it may dominate the understorey to produce carpets of violet–blue flowers in "blue bell woods", but also occurs in more open habitats in western regions. It is protected under UK law.
