Madeira - Day 10 - (Funchal)

Our last full day in Madeira and we decided to take a trip in a "Tukxi" ...

A Tukxi driver will either just take you to your required destination (in the same way as a normal taxi), or take you on a guided tour (as we did in this instance) ...

The overall cost involved depended on the tour chosen, but it is also possible to tailor the tour to the individual's wishes ...

I explained to the driver that what I really wanted to see, was a panoramic view of Funchal from the 'eastern' side ... On every other occasion that we'd approached the capital from the east, we'd ended up doing it at top speed through tunnels and along the 'motorway' ...

Okay, he took a few detours to make the tour 'fit' into a more regular tour ... but I think that he certainly fulfilled my criteria ... and on such a lovely day (lovely, that is, apart from it being our last day), it was a really pleasing two hour trip ...
