Saturday

(Awake lots during the night!!!!). Up and in the shower by 8, ready for breakfast at 9. The weather was drizzle, mizzle and as we drove to the vineyard we went through some heavy mist but it cleared by the time we got there and towards the end of the tour it had started to brighten up.

We visited the Carr Taylor vineyard, a family business since the early 70s, who mainly supply local hotels/restaurants. I'm not sure whether I enjoyed the tour but Mr C found it interesting and it was his present, so that was good. We were also given a lovely plough mans lunch after the tour.

From there we visited Winchelsea, a lovely little town with this wonderful church in the centre of it. These are the ruins of part of the church but there is a 'complete' church within it (I did buy a guide to the town, but I haven't read up on it yet!!!). And what a lovely church it was too. Within the grounds is the grave of Spike Milligan with the words 'I told you I was ill' on it in Gaelic. There are also underground tunnels under the town but unfortunately were not open today, so another visit will be required.

Then onto the ancient town of Rye. Another pretty town with many cobbled streets and antique shops. We stopped here to have a lovely supper too.

I am going to attempt adding a couple of photos. One of the vineyard and another of Rye.
