An unexpected surprise!

While walking round Maxwell Park pond this morning I spotted a heron on the island - first time I have ever seen a heron there.  My attention was suddenly diverted when I spotted this tiny duckling scooting about but keeping close to mum.  A gentleman I spoke to said that on Saturday there were four ducklings .... today there was one.  I hope the heron was sticking to a fish diet!  As I walked away from the pond there was a bit of a stramash as the heron was chased by a duck.  I hope the wee guy makes it.
