Little Boxes
Stanislavski, theatre practitioner extraordinaire, compares the memory to a large house with many rooms. In each of the rooms there are many, many sets of cupboards. In each cupboard there are many sets of drawers and in each drawers many little boxes. And finally in each little box there are thousands of tiny seeds. Each seed is an individual memory that had been "filed" away.
The job of the actor is to locate that memory and use it effectively in the creation of character.
Rather like the job of the chap in the Nespresso store is to locate the correct coffee pods within the appropriate boxes, all stored within a series of larger boxes behind the counter.
Emotional Memory vs. Locational Memory!
