Thames sailing barge Thistle
This Barge was sailing up the river towards Ipswich today and made a change from the big container vessels at Felixstowe. Thistle was the only Thames barge built in Scotland and was built for transporting coal, she could carry 150 tons and was used between Hull and London. She is 85 feet long and weighs 82 tons the hull being built of riveted Iron in 1895.
