IT'S NOT LOOKING GOOD FOR THE TOON
A quiet day until I set off to Newcastle for the football match. Weather was rather nasty - heavy rain and quite chilly. However the rain had stopped by the time I got to the football ground.
Newcastle 2 Swansea 3
Newcastle were actually doing OK in the first half and they were 1 - 0 up after 20 mins. But then they let let Swansea get one back just before half time. Then 3 mins into the second half Swansea scored again. It got worse when Swansea scored another at 70 mins. That was the cue for many Newcastle fans to leave the stadium and a mass exodus followed. Newcastle managed to get another goal on the 87th minute but it was too little too late. John Carver becomes the first coach of Newcastle in Premier League history to lose seven league games in a row,
There were protests by home fans among a crowd of 46,884 - the lowest attendance this season - with owner Mike Ashley the target of pre-arranged action in the 34th minute, drawing attention to the £34m the club banked during the last financial year. Fans are frustrated by the lack of ambition from Ashley and his reluctance to spend money on the team. My blip shows the poster which fans held up during the protest.
Did a bit of shopping in town before getting the bus home.
Have recorded Match of The Day and will watch it later. Shame I'm not a drinker as I think if I was I would have a stiff drink before watching the Newcastle match.
( Apologies to non football fans but its all about the football for me on match days.)
