Terillium

Lunaria

Also known as 'honesty'. I've always wanted this plant to grow in my garden. I've had a number of attempts and, whilst it's meant to be a prolific self seeder, I must be removing the seedlings inadvertently. This one is tucked away at the back of the paeonia border and seems to have settled there. The opalescent seedheads look wonderful in winter and can be used for indoor arrangements. The name Lunaria is said to come from the seedhead's resemblance to the moon.
Rainy and cold today and, with a fragile back, I worked in the greenhouse. Beetroot, courgettes, aubergines, Linaria and cerinthe major are all pricked out now. Back to normal gardening tomorrow.
