Swept away (View with a broom)
Although striking in colour, I am once more drawn to the monochromatic version of this image as it plays down the vivid autumn leaves and allows the woman's face to predominate. I don't know her, but I believe she is a Malawian. Anyhow, she resides across the river from me. I can't help feeling my image is an unplanned but timely tribute to the stoic quality of the countless hard-working folk from neighbouring countries who are now feeling threatened by the xenophobic outbreaks in various parts of South Africa. There is no excuse for the victimisation and barbarity, ever.
