POLLEN BASKETS
Not the best of shots as his face is hidden, but I love the fact that you can see the basket full of pollen on his back leg - the other side was just as full, which makes sense as otherwise he would be too unbalanced to fly. These baskets are called corbiculae and they are designed so that the bee can carry up to 60% of his body weight.
Another day of making hay while the sun shines. Planting out, weeding, hoeing, and starting to paint the shed. I like the weather better this week - dry and sunny, but not blisteringly hot.
