Peeping Tom
Awake early to make sure that Son number one was up for work. Stayed in bed and finished a book. Cycled to pilates and enjoyed the class.
Inspired by the sunny weather and the prospect of warmer evenings, we splashed out on an internet order for a pair of chairs for the garden (complete with drink and book holders - sound perfect!). Hope they are comfortable.
Spent some time in the garden later - pulled out lots of weeds from last year's new lavender plants in the front garden and generally tidied up. Had to keep transferring scarlet tiger moth caterpillars from the plants I was pulling up onto the ones retained in the back garden. Had fun just watching what was active in the garden. Lots of visits from the birds to the new feeder and some insects around when the sun came out.
The large yellow flowers of our tree peony have been unfurling during the day. I went to photograph one and found two bees inside. I wasn't sure what was going on at first, but eventually realised that they were probably a mating pair of red mason bees. I watched them for a while and took lots of photos - did feel like a bit of a peeping Tom!
Made biscuits and veggie chilli while catching up with some podcasts. Now on my first G&T of the weekend and looking forward to a relaxing evening.
