UP Balik PhD

Went for a day trip to London today to attend a recruitment program by UP for PhDs and PostDocs in the UK (not that I have a reason to be there since I am by contract required to go back to UP but i attended it anyway).  Around 15 delegates attended the event. UP Alumni working/studying from different UK universities attended the event. Aside from Warwick, there were attendees from Birmingham Univ, Cambridge Uni, Univ College of London, among others. It was so amazing to see how big the development is being done in the Diliman campus. It was also quite surprising to see that the budget for UP has increased 3 folds in the last five years (and we are talking about millions of pesos).

We had a few hours left after the event before our trains leave for Coventry and so we decided to have our dinner in a Chinese restaurant. The gang (Me, Wilson, Christian and Te-Anne) were able to invite two more: Lisa (far left in the photo) and Janine (far right) to join us. Dwayne, our Londoner Warwick alumna, also joined us for dinner and coffee (not in the photo). It was a fun day (trying) talking in Filipino and meeting new friends. Topics during the gathering were about Pacquiao's fight next week and a future trip to the Lake District. The discussion ended without a definite plan for either of the activities metioned. LOL
