Waulkmill (twelve days)

A splendid evening was had by all at the Ferry Inn last night.
This morning we bid Heather and Peter farewell, as they set off south on the ferry under blue skies. Squally showers of hail and rain battered off the windows later in the morning whilst we sat round the kitchen table enjoying a surprise visit from my mum.
After lunch the nearly wife and I headed to Waulkmill bay to walk the dogs. The showers eased but the wind remained fairly strong. The dogs didn't seem to mind as they raced around on the sand and through the pools of incoming tide creeping in.
It was lovely to be out in the sunshine, and also to see that oil tankers have returned to Scapa Flow after a long absence.
