Stop over in Singapore
I feel like I do not know what day it is as we have sort of missed Friday. We left home on Thursday evening and finally arrived in Sydney on Saturday morning. Our departure had its usual travel dramas....when we got to the airport and were unloading the suitcases out the car, we realised that we had left Luke's suitcase at home! We had come through heavy traffic on the M25 to get to the airport so we were not sure what to do - should we go home and get the suitcase, and perhaps end up missing our flight if the traffic was still so sticky, or should we buy Luke new clothes when we arrive in Sydney, which was not ideal either. Yes I know, how stupid were we to forget a suitcase? It happens, unbelievably, but it does! In the end, Gavin decided to risk driving home again to get the suitcase. Thankfully this turned out to be the right decision as the traffic had eased up and he made it home and back in good time for us to board the plane.
The journey was long but not unpleasant. I watched some very good movies....Wild, with Reese Wetherspoon as Cheryl Strayed who hiked the 1000 mile Pacific Crest Trail on a journey of self discovery and healing after experiencing profound grief. I also watched My Old Lady with the brilliant Maggie Smith and Testament of Youth.
We had to refuel in Singapore where we had to disembark for about an hour before continuing our long journey to Sydney. Luke took this rather cheesy photo of Gavin and I in Changi Airport in Singapore.
