Mirador

I very rarely comment on here along the lines of ' today was great' or 'today was crap' but today, well, what a day! Fabulous!

Up to the very northern tip of the island. This view is of La Graciosa, taken from the El Mirador Del Rio viewpoint, basically a stunning little cafe/gift shop on top of a big mountain. I was sitting there in the not-very-full-at-all cafe right next to the floor to ceiling windows looking at this view whilst I ate my sandwich and drank my coffee and thought that I really couldn't think of anywhere better to spend a Friday lunchtime. Perfect. A clear blue sea, a yellow/orange island with volcanoes on it, brilliant sunshine and more to come...

...at Los Jameos Del Agua, a house/complex located within a lava tube (or 'jameo') formed by the eruption of the nearby Montana La Corona. A concert auditorium inside a cave, some very cool restaurant facilities, the bluest, clearest pool you'll ever see, an underground water pool filled with tiny white crabs, a museum and the whole place had a real Bond-villain kind of vibe about. Spectacular.

After all this stuff it was just left to head home, drop off the hire car and find somewhere for a couple of drinks in the sun before heading out for food.
