Our last full day in Iceland

Backblip
Up early to make the most of the day. Stopped at the troll falls to show Ashlene and Richard and to see the troll face in the rocks. Drove through nice countryside Hraunfossar ( Lava Falls) ' a series of waterfalls formed by rivulets streaming over a distance of about 900 metres out of the Hallmundarhraun , a lava field which flowed from an eruption of one of the volcanoes lying under the glacier Langjokull.' An amazing waterfall that seemed to come from no where. Too big to take a full photo as it spanned quite a distance. A fantastic blue colour  enhanced by the clear blue sky. Turquois in parts and dark blue in others. Lots of work had been done on making new viewing platforms and putting up fencing and making easy footpaths. We walked up to the Barnafoss falls that thundered through a narrow gap , breaking through the rocks and forming an arch way. So well timed as when we returned to the car at least 10 Land Rovers had just arrived from one of the Extreme tours.
Further up the road we stopped at Husafell where Pall Gudmundsson creates 'Neo-primitive works including a stone xylophone ' which has been featured in a collaboration by Icelandic ban Sigur Ros. We saw many faces that he had created by chiselling into the rock. The rocks have been found around his home, the place where he was born. Very interesting.
More here We found the Husafell stone , a' legendary lifting stone weighing 418lbs and used as a test of strength and used in strong man competitions. The stone was found by a goat pen built by Snorri Bjornsson, a distant relative of Pall, over 200 hundred years ago.
Further exploring to the road to the glacier which was closed where we saw a sand storm, visit to some hot Springs, journey over the mountains to a small fishing village at the start of the West Fjord's.
Back to Borgarnes  for a delicious dinner of Lobster tails and salad with rice pudding,  traditional snack eaten on a Saturday lunchtime
