St. Georges Day

Well would you believe it - not two hour earlier I had been explaining to Sara's friend about the old tradition of a man giving a woman a red rose on the 23rd April - and we'd  both said "that never happens",  especially seeing as we are still in Rome today -  we had a lovely lunch in a back street cafe and , blow me down , the waiter gave us both a rose ...spooky !
