Hiring Fairs

R and I have sad faces today - as do these children - the holiday is over

On a last walk around Letterkenny - came across this sculpture by Maurice Hatton - entitled The Hiring Fairs - the figures are life sized and in bronze - and depict a period in time when children would be sold - for periods of up to six months - to wealthy farmers of the Logan Valley

Despite highering fares - think we'll have to come back to Ireland
