Tail

The meeting rooms where we were having our discussions were in what must have been the old stable block. There was a small brick-built pigsty nearby with a wonderful array of terracotta tiles on its sloping roof, which I was intending to photograph, but I was distracted by this handsome feller who kept posing on the wall beside it. He occasionally screamed at his reflection when he caught sight of himself in the glass doors.

Before lunch a colleague and I had to head back to the mother ship in order to attend Senate, which included our first sighting of the new V-C. When I was standing on the station platform at MK I noticed an announcement on the screen about the line being blocked between Carlisle and Carstairs. The train guard was over-optimistic "Oh, it'll have been sorted out by the time this train gets up there". I ignored him, jumped out of the Virgin at Brum and got a Cross-Country up to York and then an EastCoast to Edinburgh. I later heard that the train I'd started on had indeed been "terminated" at Carlisle. Hmm.
