Japanese Animal Sounds...
Have you heard of Nyan Cat?
I just found out today why it's called Nyan cat.
Apparently, the Japanese have different onomatopoeia for certain animal sounds. So instead of describing a cat sound as Meeow Meeow as we do in the western world, the Japanese describe it's sound as Nyaa Nyaa.
Here's some others;
Sheep: Mee Mee
Mouse: Chuu Chuu (this probably accounts for the game Chu Chu Rocket which is about mice trying to get into a rocket)
Frog: Kero kero
and most bizarrely, I don't know how they get to Wan Wan for a dog.
