THE TOOTH, THE WHOLE TOOTH.....
.....and nothing but the tooth! Our visit to the hygienist was scheduled for today and we were quite excited because Laura, our hygienist, had been on maternity leave and then hadn't worked at convenient times for us to see her, so it was our first time seeing her since she had had her baby.
We were astonished - well perhaps as it involves teeth, I should say we were gob-smacked - to learn that the "baby" was now over 3 years old - and in fact he will be 4 in September! Where did those years go?
I had decided that I had a readymade Blip and Post-it opportunity today, so first off, as it was Laura's birthday, we walked in to find her in reception, so sang "Happy Birthday" to her. Good job we were the only patients in at the time!
Having chatted to Laura before, I knew how much she loved the sea, so I gave her a birthday card of a lovely seascape entitled "Wintry West Coast of Guernsey", made by a good Blip friend, Tinkerbelle. Laura was delighted, especially as she had worked in St Martins, Guernsey, for three months when she had first qualified. She told me she would probably leave it on the windowsill and it would still be there the next time we came!
Then, it was down to business - but not before I had taken a photograph of the Post-it, Laura's "tools of the trade", the special glasses we have to wear and one or two other things in the surgery, thinking I could easily make a Blip out of several of those if I decided to make a collage.
The best words to hear when having teeth cleaned and polished are "Have a good rinse out now" - and you will see on the collage (and this is despite all the very high-tech equipment) the very technical and upmarket way the medical wipes are attached to the pole next to the chair!
When I was done and left the "Smile Room", as her surgery is called, Laura called Mr. HCB, and I couldn't miss the opportunity to take this lovely photograph of them both - with Mr. HCB grumbling and groaning that he had already done his bit for Blip this week - some people are just so ungrateful!
No matter how many times
teeth bite the tongue,
they still stay together
in one mouth!
That's the spirit of
forgiveness.
