Diary of an Edinburgher

One job done

Another lovely warm day - warmer than yesterday, though I still have to be careful to wear enough clothes in case there's a cool breeze.

Breakfast in the sunshine, with Archie quietly grumbling at people who made too much noise. Just tiny little grumps, as he has his anti-bark collar on, so he knows not to get too loud. I must say, that collar's been the best buy! He and I can sit there for ages, just looking at the world going by, or the seagulls flying overhead, or the wee sparrows twittering in the hedge.

We walked along to Summerhall, missing playtime at the school this time. Archie is so good at walking on the lead now. Such a pleasure to be out with him compared to a month or so ago when it was hazardous! He doesn't bark at other dogs now. But toddlers are his bête noire, and I can't see him ever liking them.

We walked back through the Meadows, with him trotting up to folk to see if there were any apple cores to pinch. He does tend to roam quite far, and 'doesn't hear' me calling him, nor yet does he hear the whistle... Hmmm. As far as I could see, he didn't eat much rubbish today. Thank goodness.

In the afternoon JR took him up Blackford Hill - he's getting so many walks this weather! I mowed the lawns. I have so many other jobs that need doing, but they can wait. The windows need washing, and painting. Though I might get a man to do that - the thought of me up a ladder with a tin of paint and having a coughing fit is not such a good idea...

Coffee still doesn't taste right.

Though G&T tastes fine...
