Bridge over No Water

California is suffering from the very bad drought.  In some places there is no water in the creeks and rivers.  The spring snows did help a little, but it will take years of more than average precipitation to begin to build up the water supply.  Some of the problems, however, are a result of unchecked growth in the major metropolitan areas and poor water usage for these areas.  This, together with the environmental opposition of every proposal to build dams and reservoirs over the last 30 years, has created a very bad situation for the residents.  Now, California is using every "card" that they can play, whether legal or not, to obtain more water from both the Colorado River and the Eastern Sierras.  I am afraid that those who will suffer are the the ranchers and farmers.

As I view these wonderful landscapes, I am always aware of how they have changed and will continue to change because of the drought.
