Glasgow's Waterways - Canal

Todays walk was along the Glasgow branch of the Forth/Clyde canal. The branch was built in the late 18th century and gave rise to Port Dundas, the most important port in Glasgow before the Clyde was properly navigable. Some evidence of the industrial past remains but the canal path now is very much leisure orientated. Significant housing developments are also prominent, the most distinctive of these is probably the Mondriaan development which incorporates some Dutch style and the bold colours of the artist Piet Mondriaan.
This was a fascinating walk with superb views of the city skyline on a beautiful sunny april day
