No, this man isn't about to be knighted by a knight.

His head is bent in order to read the plaque on the carving's pedestal.

Northampton has an ancient history and a Knights' Trail has been set up around the town. This chap (the carved one) would have fought in the Second Barons' War of rebellion against King Henry the Third (circa 1264).

There are eight knights to discover around the town, carved from massive tree trunks by chainsaw artists.
