Day 5 - St Helena Island

This was a dream come true for me - I have always been fascinated by this island and I wasn't disappointed. The transfer from the ship to land in tenders was difficult in the heavy swell, and we only had half a day on the island. We went on a walking tour and then took a taxi to see Napolean's original burial site and Longwood house where he stayed.
An airport is being built there which will be ready next year - it will be easier for residents to get medical help in emergencies, and bring in more tourists which is their main source of revenue. I'm pleased I saw the island before the changes that will come with more tourists.
