Line of Roman Road along Oxford Street, London
Looking west from the top of Centre Point in London, the origins of Oxford Street as a Roman Road are very clear.
It heads from the west gate of the Roman City of Londinium and heads west - crossing Watling Street at Marble Arch (formerly Tyburn) and thence west to cross the Thames at Staines (ad Pontem) and then to Silchester (Calleva Atrebatum). There roads ran to Gloucester, Bath, Old Sarum and Winchester.
