That's Life!

Yellow Peril

I'm playing lawn soccer with Cameron - he's Barcelona, I'm Lincoln City and it's the European Champions League Final - when there's a threatening yell from the back window: "If you kick that ball into my garden again, you'll lose yours!"

Ah, Jools has risen from her sick bed to catch the dying moments of an exciting match. Cam and I look at each other, then at her. "What did we do?"

We follow a pointing finger and realise she seems concerned for the safety of the newly-blooming Day Lillies that are cowering under the onslaught of determined soccer players.

"Stupid place to put flowers, right on the edge of our soccer field," mumbles the Barcelona team as he scored the winning goal. "10-9 . . . Now I'm Chelsea; who are you?"

PS June 1: 24 hours later the flowers are splattered to the ground. Not by the soccer teams, but by the weather . . . storms all day caused chaos in Toronto, not to bad here 20 miles away, although half a dozen Day Lillies would not agree . . .
