Ragged robin, Lychnis flos-cuculi

What a crappy day, raining nonstop from dawn until mid-afternoon.

No idea what this bloom is and after my last feeble guess a couple of days ago, I am not going to even try. I thought it looked rather interesting, exotic even and so, in the absence of any insects to blip, I throw it out there.

I met the lady that was looking for ideas for plants to attract butterflies and thanks to you guys and galls, I was able to furnish her with a list. She said thank you very much.

I met John again and I'm sure he had a good chuckle at me mistaking the ketch for an orchid, but he hid it well.

One of the first Indonesian differences that I noticed when I arrived in Bandung was the height of the pavements. After walking about a mile, climbing up and down these kerb stones, I felt like I had been following a breakfast time fitness step class, run by some muscly queen with half a box of Kleenex down his leotard.

The kerbs can be as much as 18 inches high in places and of course the reason is to control the flood water when it rains. I soon worked this out for myself when the first rain experience hit me. I had never seen rainfall like it, quite shocking!
