Across the Bay
The course continued today, putting yesterday's theories and concepts into practice - quite a mentally and physically tiring day as the three of us were all from different climbing backgrounds so there was a lot of cross fertilisation and skill transferrance going on, sometimes whilst also pulling moves towards the very top (for me at least) of our game.
I've now got my own PDP and a structured plan towards an assessment - and a long long reading list. Just need to find somewhere a little more ethical than Amazon to start buying books.
After the course finished I'd an errand to run in Morecambe. Sadly its a seaside town who's heyday has long since passed. As someone who spent a lot of my earlier years in a coastal town I've seen this happen, but most have slowly been reinvented as prime real estate even as the tourist industry has moved on. Morecambe however hasn't, its gained a large semi permanent traveller population, a lot of unemployment and a reputation for squalor. And I find this super odd. St Anne's and to a lesser extent parts of the Fylde are once again very desirable - yet the shoreline is bleak and (to me) unappealing, there's also very little main employment. Morecambe on the other hand has an astounding coastline, the Bay is a marine nature reserve - looking across it you have the fabulous spread of the Coniston Fells and inland you are quickly into Lancaster or Preston, it has a lot to offer.
Hopefully it's time will come, because today, the view West was fantastic.
