A Bracing Dip

No this isn't shot in black & white, it was just a cold, grey day!  I took the camera for a bimble round a local lake and was torn between this and a close-up of a greylag goose - I chose this as it was more reflective of how cold the water looked.  Can anyone educate me on what it is?
