Cottage in Evening Light

One of the many individual cottages that overlook the original and still  cobbled village square.  A hundred years ago there used to be regular markets in the village square. The animals were tied to an iron ring which was fastened to the wall by the buildings. All of these still remain. At this time there were also about ten or eleven licensed drinking premises. Today this has been whittled down to two. There i a their sign up still proclaiming the Black Bull. Although the pub has been closed for many years and it is now a residential property the sign is listed and cannot be removed. Kirkoswald at its best.
